Since the beginning of the pandemic, Art Jewelry Forum has expanded its efforts to connect more directly with the jewelry community by regularly hosting live chats online. These feature artist studio visits, talks with gallerists about shows they’re hosting, interviews with curators and authors, and other programming tied to various jewelry weeks from around the globe. We record all these programs and post them on our website.
Melanie Eddy walks us through her solo exhibition, Meditations on Form, at Bermuda National Gallery—the museum’s first jewelry exhibition. Eve Godet Thomas, the museum’s director of exhibitions, discusses her approach to exhibiting a jewelry collection. As Director of Exhibitions, she has curated many exhibitions featuring both international and local artists. Eve spent six years as Fashion Director of The Outnet, part of the Net-a-Porter Group, and another six on the fashion desk of The Times newspaper, London. She holds a BA (Joint Honours) in French and Spanish from University College London and joined the MA: Fashion (Journalism) course at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design before taking her role on The Times.
Trained in Bermuda, Canada, New York and London; Eddy holds an MA Design: Jewellery from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She’s director of The Association for Contemporary Jewellery, where she was actively involved as Assistant Editor of their newsletter for 3+ years, a licentiate (with distinction) of The Society of Designer Craftsman and is involved in The Society of Jewellery Historians having previously served as Reviews Editor on the Editorial Board for Jewellery History Today, The Society’s magazine. Eddy works in various aspects of the jewelry trade, from design and manufacture through critical writing and facilitating creative and professional development. Her studio is in London. There, she creates geometric sculptural jewelry using both new and traditional approaches. The NY Times profiled Eddy in January 2025, in an article that explored Black British-based designers who are reshaping fine jewelry.
